The ESP Materials Design Partnership Project Summer Reading Circle offers support to teachers during the summer break who wish to read and discuss foundational and theoretical work in the field of materials design.
Here you can read and discuss important ideas in the field with the goal of further developing your own ideas about teaching and learning language. Knowing your own principles for teaching and learning helps you create better, more consistent, and more effective learning materials.
For each reading, you'll decide if you agree, partially agree, or disagree with the theory presented in the text. Thinking about and discussing the reading will help you further develop your own teaching philosophy.
At the end of the reading period, you will have the opportunity to write and get feedback on a personal Statement of Teaching Philosophy. Such statements are often requested when teachers apply for teaching positions or professional development opportunities. Reading and writing with us will help you to write a clear statement based on your own well-thought out beliefs.
So, come on in to the forum. Please introduce yourself and add a photo to your profile so we can get to know you, then get started on your first reading.
